10 Minute Sandwich Masala Recipe

Sandwich masala powder or Bombay sandwich masala is a spice blend that is key to lip smacking Indian street style sandwiches! Ready in 10 minutes with pantry ingredients.

Equipment

  • 1 pan
  • 1 spice grinder or coffee grinder

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup cumin seeds 30g
  • 2 tsp cloves 3g
  • 3 sticks cinnamon 12g
  • 2 tbsp black peppercorn 16g
  • 8 tsp fennel seeds 21g
  • 1 star anise
  • 8 tsp black salt 45g
  • 2 tsp salt 7g
  • 8 tsp dry mango powder (amchur) 22g

Instructions

  • Put pan on stove on low-medium heat.
    Dry roast black peppercorns, cinnamon sticks, cloves and star anise 1-2 minutes. Mix in between.
  • Add in fennel seeds and cumin seeds. Roast for another 2 minutes. Mix in between.
    Remove from gas and set aside and let cool completely.
  • Use a spice grinder or coffee grinder to grind into a fine powder. Add in spice powders and grind once more to blend all ingredients together.

Notes

Break apart the cinnamon sticks using a pestle if you'd like to make it easier to blend.
