The easiest sweet treat when you need to whip up something quick - palmiers! They are flaky, buttery and the filling can easily be changed up. This post covers almond palmiers which only take 5 main ingredients. You will need almond paste, ready-made puff pastry, butter, and sugar. If you like an almond rose flavor blend, add in a little rose essence.
Whip together almond paste, sugar, milk and salt in a mixer or food processor. The mixture should be easily spread. Add additional tbsp of milk, if needed to make it easier to spread. Add in rose extract if you want a rose almond flavor blend.
Step 2
Roll out one puff pastry sheet on parchment paper to approximately 10X13. Spread half of the mixture on the sheet.
Step 3
Roll in two sides towards each other until they meet in middle. Wrap roll in parchment and plastic wrap and put in the fridge for 25 minutes. Repeat for other puff pastry sheet.
Step 4
Preheat oven to 400F.
Step 5
Take the pastry out of the fridge. Cut 1/2 inch slices of roll and place on parchment. Brush both sides with melted butter.
Step 6
Place in oven to bake a total of 15-17 minutes, flipping halfway through with a spatula.
Step 7
Once browned and sugar caramelized on both sides, they are done!
Step 8
Optionally garnish with chocolate, rose petals and pistachios.
