Delicious Chocolate Chai (Tea)

Chocolate chai (tea) is the perfect drink to cozy up to which a spicy flavor from chai spice and rich cocoa flavor.  Ready in a few minutes with black tea, few spices, sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder.

Equipment

  • 1 Pot
  • 1 tea strainer

Ingredients

  • cup water
  • 2 tsp loose black tea or tea bag equivalent` I use Wagh Bakri brand.
  • 3 tsp sugar adjust to your preference
  • 1 cup milk I used 2%. Feel free to use whole milk or plant based milk.
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder
  • tsp ginger powder
  • tsp cocoa powder

Instructions

  • Place water, sugar, cardamom powder, ginger powder, and loose leaf tea or tea bags in a pot on medium-high heat on the stove.
    Chai, sugar, spices and water in a pot stovetop.
  • Let it come to a simmer and rolling boil for about 3-4 minutes.

  • Add milk and cocoa powder to the hot water. Let it come to a boil. Turn to medium heat.

  • Let simmer for 5-6 minutes. Turn off stove.

  • Strain tea with a tea strainer and serve.

Notes

Note, I tried to balance the chai flavor and chocolate. Feel free to add a little bit more spice, use masala chai or additional fresh flavors like ginger and make it yours.
