Instructions
Mix 1/2 c water,1/3 cup milk, sugar and yeast. Milk and water should be lukewarm. Let sit 15 minutes so yeast activates.
Meanwhile, add flour, salt and 1½ tbsp oil to bowl and mix. Make a well in center of flour.
Once yeast is bubbly and foamy pour into center of well in flour mix. Mix to form a dough. Add 3/4 cup of water as needed to make a wet dough. Note, it will be wet and sticky. I find using my hands to be easiest, greasing with a little oil to prevent stickiness.
Brush 9X13 pan with 3 tbsp oil on all sides. Put dough in pan and cover with plastic wrap. Brush top with olive oil so plastic doesn't stick. Let sit to rise in dark, warm place for 2 hours.
After two hours, dough will have risen. With a light touch, spread dough out to corners of pan. Use a knife to cut desired shape of breadsticks. Cover and let rise 45 minutes again in warm, dark place.
Meanwhile, mix seasonings for breadsticks in a small bowl (garlic powder, onion powder, oregano and salt). Melt butter. Preheat oven to 475F.
After 45 minutes, take out tray. Brush top with olive oil (this gives the crunch). Bake for 20 minutes at 475F.
Take out tray and reduce oven temperature to 350F. Brush bread sticks with melted butter. Sprinkle seasoning mix all over. Top with 1 tbsp parmesan. Bake again for 10-12 minutes.
Take out bread stick and sprinkle 2-3 tbsp grated parmesan all over the sticks. Once cooled, enjoy!
