Easy Indian Apple Chutney

Delicious apple chutney with simple ingredients with a tasty sweet, spicy and a bit of tangy flavor.  Made on the stovetop and under 30 minutes.

Equipment

  • 1 blender or food processor

Ingredients

  • 5 apples, gala 785g whole, 580g peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 7 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin coriander powder
  • tbsp lemon juice
  • ¾ cup water adjust for your preference of consistency, start with ½ cup and work your way up

Instructions

  • Place chopped and peeled apples in a pan with salt, sugar and cinnamon powder. Mix and turn on stove on medium-high.

  • Let apples simmer on medium until fork tender. About 5-7 minutes. Mix in between to prevent sticking.

  • Add remaining spices and lemon juice. Mix and turn off stove. Remove pan from heat. Let apples cool.

  • Blend in blender jar or food processor to make smooth paste.

  • Add water to adjust consistency to a chutney.
