Servings: 0.5 cup

- ½ cup corn starch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp food color powder I used McCormick's (see picture in post).
Place all ingredients into blender jar and pulse to blend. Shake in between if needed to help reduce the amount of clumps.
Sieve the powder. Press down on any lumps to help them break apart.
Store in an airtight container.
I looked at two popular companies (Bird's and Brown & Polson) and both do not use sugar in their custard powder.
I kept sugar out of this recipe to help control the amount added to each recipe.
If you'd like you can add 1 cup sugar to this blend. Milk powder can also be added for additional creaminess but again, I like to leave unnecessary ingredients out and adjust as needed for each dish.
