Option #1 Chocolate Coconut Ladoo With Cocoa Powder
Measure out the ingredients into a bowl. Mix well to combine. Roll round ladoo shapes with your hands into a smooth ball. If it feels sticky to you, you can optionally put a little ghee or coconut oil on the palm of your hands first to reduce stickiness.
Roll the sweet ball of coconut ladoos in some desiccated coconut powder. Optionally refrigerate if you like a firm consistency.
Option #2 Chocolate Coconut Ladoo With Chocolate Chips
Place chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 15 second intervals twice and mix. Chocolate should have melted, if not do it one more time for 15 seconds.
Add melted chocolate to condensed milk and desiccated coconut in a bowl. Mix well to combine.
Roll round ladoo shapes with your hands into a smooth ball. If it feels like a sticky mix to you, you can optionally put a little ghee or coconut oil on the palm of your hands first to reduce stickiness.
Roll the sweet ball of chocolate laddus in some desiccated coconut powder. Optionally garnish with nuts for a crunch.
Note: the process is the same for both. Just substitute cocoa powder for chocolate chips in 2nd option.
Make your own little twist by using different types of chocolate and making different flavors. Any chocolate of your choice can work including dark chocolate and white chocolate. They all taste great in coconut laddu.
Making it vegan
To make vegan coconut ladoos, just replace the condensed milk with dairy-free condensed milk. I recommend oat condensed milk.
Pro Tips
Place the ladoos on parchment paper and place them in the fridge to help them set quicker.
If you put too much desiccated coconut, you will get a dry ladoo. This results in a choking-type feeling when eating them. So, adjust to your liking but be careful not to add too much coconut.
How to use dry coconut flakes?
If you have bigger coconut flakes you can just blend a few times to make a coarse, medium desiccated coconut consistency.
