Ingredient Notes

Below are key ingredient notes for iced mint mojito coffee. Full ingredients and directions are in the printable recipe card at the end of the post.

Ingredients for mint mojito coffee recipe.

Coffee:  Either freshly brewed coffee or your favorite cold brew coffee can work.  At Philz, they brew fresh coffee and then shake it with ice to cool it down. More details below, but any good coffee works.

Mint:  Fresh mint leaves are key!  Remove from the stem and wash well.

Ice: If using freshly brewed hot coffee you’ll def need some ice cubes!

Half and half:  I used half and half but make it yours and substitute it with any heavy cream creamer or whole milk.  Substitute plant-based ones to make them vegan!

At Philz, the house way is creamy and sweet!

Sugar: Sugar is used to muddle with the mint.  It helps to release the oils and flavor from the mint leaves. Brown sugar or white sugar can be used.

Which Coffee Does Philz Use?

I believe Philz coffee shops use their Tesora blend coffee to make this refreshing drink.

Light or medium roast coffee will work well.  But it’s your coffee, so any blend you enjoy can work!

They use a French press to make the coffee.

Muddling The Mint

In order to muddle the mint, you need a muddler!

Muddling is the process of crushing or pressing the mint leaves to break down the cell walls and release the essential mint oils, which gives the drink a more intense mint flavor.

Adding sugar to the mix helps to absorb some of the bitter compounds that can be released during the muddling process, which can make the drink.

See the ridges on the muddler below? That’s what does the trick!

Making It

  1. Brew coffee using your preferred method – either a French press or a drip coffee maker for fresh coffee.  Or make your fave cold brew.
  2. In a jar or shaker, muddle the fresh mint leaves with sugar using a muddler. You’ll see the sugar melt and the leaves will slightly tear apart.

3.Add coffee, ice cubes, and half and  half to the shaker.  Close and shake for a good 30-40 seconds to cool down the coffee.

4. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and enjoy your delicious Philz Mint Mojito Coffee!

Tips

Use a mason jar with a lid if you don’t have a  cocktail shaker.

Alternatively, you can just pour the coffee over ice and let it cool down for a sweet iced coffee.

If you’re making it vegan, I love oat milk or almond milk for this refreshing iced coffee.

Readymade mint syrup is a great way to make this flavorful coffee drink if you don’t have fresh herbs on hand.

This delicious coffee is great to serve to guests.

Storing

Mint mojito coffee drink is can be made ahead of time. Just make sure to refrigerate!
