Notes on the Coconut Cardamom Hot Chocolate
Coconut Milk: You can substitute the canned coconut milk for coconut milk from a carton for a lighter version. The canned coconut milk is def worth it though!
Other kinds of milk: I use coconut milk because that brings out the coconut flavor of this drink. If you’d like to experiment with other milks you can try any type of plant based milk such as almond milk or cashew milk to keep it vegan.
If you do not need a vegan drink, feel free to try whole milk or any other type of dairy milk.
Chocolate: I’ve used bittersweet chocolate but if you prefer a sweeter version feel free to use milk chocolate as a substitute. Other types of chocolate you can use are cacao powder, dark chocolate, shaved chocolate (from chocolate bars), or regular cocoa powder.
Cardamom: if you only have whole green cardamom pods on hand you can crush with a mortar and pestle to use
Optional toppings include whipped cream, mini chocolate chips, toasted shredded coconut andtons of marshmallows! Note: Dandies brand makes vegetarian/vegan marshmallows.

Variations
Rose coconut cardamom hot chocolate – add a little rose water for light floral taste
